The Big Shuffle

Seminary classes are starting this Thursday, and it got me to thinking about how much Ed has learned since we came here. His biggest passion is, by far, learning Hebrew vocab. His Hebrew flashcards have woven themselves into the fabric of our life. We even have what's called "The Big Shuffle" on a regular basis. Ed has memorized 3400 Hebrew vocab words, and each word of course has its own card. In order to practice them in random order, he has to get them all out at once and rearrange them. This can be quite an ordeal. I've often wondered what he would do if he lost a stack of those cards.

The end result, though, isn't just knowing a bunch of vocab. Ed has really learned to love studying the Bible in its original language. He does it on a daily basis and often tries to explain to me all the things he is learning. Praise God for his Word and for gifting Ed with the opportunity to learn Hebrew and read it.
