Friends who cloth diaper,
I am in the midst of e-mailing with a few of you, and I thought I rather have a group discussion of sorts about cloth diapering via the blog post and comments. Here's the current situation we're in:
I have 25 BumGenius 2.0s that I use on a daily basis. For the past 9 months, I have used all 25 before washing, which left me washing every 5-6 days. We now have a serious stink problem. I believe this is due to many factors: waiting too long between washes, using baking soda/vinegar for awhile (Cottonbabies rep said DON'T do it with BGs), and using Dreft for awhile as well. About two weeks ago, I put away 12 of the diapers and have just been using half, washing every 3 days or so. The stink is still around. I stripped the 12 I had put away yesterday to get rid of detergent build-up and hopefully the smell problem so I could sell them. I am planning on stripping the remaining after Samuel gets through them tomorrow. I am looking to revamp our diaper system. Here are some options that have been posed:
1. Use prefolds w/ Snappi fastener and a Bummi Super Whisper Wrap. I was thinking to purchase 12 prefolds, 2 Snappis and 3-4 Wraps.
2. Use Snug-to-Fits from greenmountaindiapers.com and BSWWs and wool covers. These I'm not sure on quantities to purchase, especially b/c they are a little more expensive.
So, ladies, I'm looking for advice, opinions, whatnot to sort this all out. Lay it on me...

I've recently had the same problem with my BG because of waiting too long to wash and then washing too hot. I just finished stripping them, but talked with Cottonbabies and found out you should never go more than 2 days between washing diapers because bacteria will build up, baking soda and vinegar are hard on diapers, and washing on cold is good. I've started using a sports wash that hunter's also use because it leaves no smell and no residue. I still like the performance fabrics because it wicks away the moisture from her bum and the BG hold more than the prefolds. Lydia is also very wiggly when I change her so putting on a prefold, snappi, and cover are just too much to make cloth diapering doable for me. I do really like the kissaluvs though if you're looking to get away from performance fabrics. Don't know how much help this is, but that's my experience.
I've heard that you can strap them to a board with a hole in it. Saves on diapers. ~Your friend in Central Asia
