Update on Leah

Hi to all! This is Leah writing from Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a little update for you.

I had my surgery on Thursday afternoon to remove my entire colon. Surgery went well and the doctor said the organ was in bad shape and we made the right decision to operate. I will be recovering here in the hospital for about a week. My mom heads back to Florida today, but Ed's parents arrive this afternoon to stay for a week. Then my parents will most likely drive back up to spend another week with us. I will be unable to lift the boys for 4-6 weeks, so everyone will be a big help to me.

I am in good spirits and feel good physically. My goal for today is to get up and walk a little bit. I am still not able to eat, but I am receiving nutrition through a PICC line. My weight has actually gone up a little bit (most likely due to the IV fluids I am receiving).

God is so good and is really healing my body. I thank Him for that. I especially praise God for Ed, who has really stepped up to the plate as my caretaker here in the hospital. He has done an amazing job taking care of me. And my mom has done an amazing job watching the boys so that Ed could be here with me. Praise God for all he has done!

It is so good to hear from you. Praise God indeed! My small group prayed Friday for you and I keep you in my prayers daily. Hope you grow stronger every day and have patience when you get home to not over do it. The weeks will go faster than you think.
Love to all of you....Uncle Roger and Aunt Karen
