Oh, it is so nice to be home! I arrived home Wednesday night about 10:30pm. It felt so strange to walk into my house after being gone 13 days. That's a long time to be away. I had no idea when I left that Friday afternoon that I wouldn't be back for so long.
Since the boys were already in bed when I got home, they didn't know I would be there when they got up. Samuel came into my bedroom at 7:15am looking for Ed and saw me instead. He got the sweetest smile on his face and just came up and hugged and hugged me. It was so sweet, I'm telling you - the perfect way to start my first day home. We came downstairs and Joel was already awake in the basement with Ed (yet another rough night). When I came down to the basement he came running over and hugged me. Again, so sweet. Both boys just laid out on me for a few minutes and we enjoyed a sweet reunion.
I had a nice, full day with everyone. I tried to take it easy. Corliss makes it easy for me to relax. She cooks and cleans and takes care of the boys. It's wonderful.
My friend Lindsey came over and took me to Walmart to buy some new undergarments to fit my changed body. That was probably the most adventurous I got today and even such a little trip really took it out of me. I'm quickly realizing how slow I'll need to take it over the next few weeks.
I made sure to spend some time out in the front yard today. I wasn't even out two minutes when the neighbors started coming over to welcome me home. It made me feel so special. They all told me they had been praying for me and were so happy to see me home. Ed and I are just so thankful to have picked the neighborhood we live in. It's going to be a great place to raise the boys.
All in all, I just spent the day reflecting on God's goodness to me. I feel so blessed for all He has given me. I really feel a new lease on life and an amazing sense of gratitude.
Thank you to all of you who have written, sent cards, prayed, and asked how I'm doing. You all make me feel so loved. Thank you.
I am hoping to take some pictures tomorrow of me at home with the family. I want you all to see what a cute little family God has given us! :)
