The Celebration

We decided to pack up the kiddos and head downtown for a birthday celebration yesterday. Boy, I thought I was ready for another kid, but it is a TON of work to pack up three kids! I don't know how you people do it (and some of you have more than three!!). We put Samuel, Joel, and Baby L in the backseat and hit the town. First stop: Lincoln Park Zoo.

Second stop: Ed Debevic's. For those of you who don't know, this is the diner downtown where the staff is really rude to the customers. I thought it was a kinda odd choice for celebrating Joel's birthday, but Ed insisted it would be fun. He was right. The kids had a good time - the server was really great with them - and they got to have a cute birthday treat. The serve something called The World's Smallest Sundae and each of the boys had one. Ed and I shared a vanilla shake that was awe-some.

Final stop: Home for naps! We took so long going down and back that Ed only had about 20 minutes before he had to go to work - poor guy! He went and laid down with Samuel for a bit. When the timer went off and I didn't see him appear, I went into the bedroom to get him. I don't know who was snoring louder, Ed or Samuel, but they were both sawing some serious logs in there!
