Samuel watches TV

Last week, with the NFL season starting, we decided to go out and buy a TV. We haven't had one because we don't really need to watch it, and we don't want Samuel watching TV. (BTW, did you know that the American Academy of Pediatricians says No TV before 2 years old??) I picked up this little number at the Salvation Army for $10. We decided we would keep it in the closet and just get it out when there was something we wanted to watch. The Office comes on after Samuel's bedtime, so I'm thinking it will make an appearance each Thursday night. :) We did let Samuel watch the Thursday night game with us since it was the Colts (GO COLTS). The funny thing is, he was really more interested in the television set than anything that was playing on the TV. And once the novelty of it wore off, he could really care less. Here he is checking it all out.

NOTE: All the stuff piled up behind the TV is not trash, it's our overflowing recycle bin. Just didn't want everything thinking we were pigs - we're just lazy environmentalists.

I'm so glad there's someone else out there like us - we're trying so hard to keep Lydia away from watching tv until she's 2. Our families keep giving us Baby Einstein videos, but we've played them a total of four times in her life. However, with my football-loving husband, we have had some games on when Lydia was in the room!

Hey! If you get Parent's magazine, there's an interesting article in it this month about TV watching and toddlers. The only thing James usually watches is Sesame Street, but honestly he really doesn't even care about it...he'll watch 2 or 3 minutes and then he's done! As active as they are at this age I'm not sure they really WATCH TV...at least mine just mostly runs around it. LOL!

We only let Laney watch Praise Baby every blue moon. I hardly EVER watch tv. Hugh loves TV and movies, but he's hardly home, so it works out. :) Laney also loses interest in the video. She loves it at first with the praise music playing, but then she wants to go go go and play with her toys. :)
